Good Food Review

So at first I didn't really have many plans for this blog. But, after the choir concert on friday my mom's friend took us to this restaurant called Salerno's Pizza. I have to say that they have the best pizza you ever want/can/will eat. The service was great & they gave the three of us free desserts. I can honestly say my tiramusu wasn't that great but the pizza made up for us. The best part os that it's right around the corner from school! You get like six small squares of pizza for about $5 which is kind of sad because it's so good but you just have to savor what you have. It took quite a while to get the pizza but I can see why because the pizza is so good. They have a variety of italian foods and the prices are high but I bet as soon as you taste the food it's all worth it. We got the thin crust sausage pizza & its an extra five dollars for each topping, they have good parking & very friendly nice people I think everyone should check this restaurant out, you won't regret it :)

King still King???

"Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968) was an American clergyman, activist, and prominent leader in the African American civil rights movement. He is best known for being an iconic figure in the advancement of civil rights in the United States and around the world, using nonviolent methods following the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. King is often presented as a heroic leader in the history of modern American liberalism." (Wikipedia)

So I can say that for the most part all of that above me is true. Dr. King WAS all of that but what is he now? Is still the influential leader who we look up to & respect? Well, I think that we still respect him but when someone brings up the name Dr. King it's much more different than it was years and years ago. Dr. King will always be the man & he will always be one of the most influential men in African American history but he, his voice, and his ideas aren't as powerful as they once were. I actually asked a couple of people to test this theory of mine & the results pretty much proved me right. Some said that he wasn't as invigorating anymore because the times have changed too much, and others because we have a new African American man to look up to (President Barack Obama). Nevertheless King isn't still King and it's up to us as a people to now let him fade away. Some feel like Dr. King was overrated, they feel like other influential people were overshadowed my Dr. King. Some even feel that he doesn't deserve the holiday we get a day off of school & work for. Now I'm not going to lie, I thought about him on MLK day but not as much as I should have & I'm positive I'm not the only one. When Black History month rolls around, we vaguely even have an acknowledgement at my school so you know he isn't celebrated then. I feel that Dr. King and his work/teachings were strongly taught and stressed in elementary school but when we arrived to high school it's brushed off a tad bit. We need to change this, not only for our future generation's sake but for Dr. King. He was way too much of a good man to just fade away into the cardboard box of history, and not only him, all influential people. They always say...”There is no future without the past."

I'm a Shoe

I have no idea what to put for this blog.
But anyway, yea.

I'm a shoe, I'm just a shoe.
I'm a shoe you can never ever take off, I'm a shoe & it's my world, you just live in it.
I'm a Jordan

I control you, I control your mind. You have to have me in order to feel complete, you will do whatever and pay whatever to get me. You have to have me, I control your life. You strive to collect my whole family. In ten years you another shoe will control your life and you will forget all about me. So, why am I so powerful?

Winter Poem :)

The holiday season is here
Yess it's time for love & cheer
Presents & food & good ole stories
Elders reminsicing about their past glories
Mama hanging up the stockings by the tree
Hearts are filled with nothing but glee
Everyone gets along fine & dandy
No time for fussing everythings perfect
Time for those good ole day movies to project
Mommy & Aunt Esther as youngins making snow angels
My uncle just being a bad boy & always looking for danger
Time for eggnog & a family prayer
God Bless You to all & to all a Goodnight!

Globalization

Hmmm.....I can compare Globalization to Bacon. It tastes good & it's looks so good before you eat but when you keep eating it & eating it you eventually you will have to give it up or you will die. There are many pros to globilization yet there ar just as many cons, just like bacon! Globalization can be a stroke or a full satisfied tummy! Anyway to lose the food analogies, many people believe that Globalization isn't good, many can compare it to the devil. Others think that Globalization is great, the key to a world, I partially agree with both arguments. Globalization can break years of tradition & make culture lost forever to the world. Yet, it can also pull a struggling economy out of a ditch & bring lots of money & resources. Everybody doesn't want to Americanize their country but then again noone wants to be poor. It's really a back & forth argument & I don't think either side is completely right or wrong. Lets just say Globalization has a good heart but doesn't always know when to lay off...
I feel like America has kind of manipulated Globalization & it's obvious to other countries. What we are doing here now isn't working for us so why would we want to spread it to other places in the world? It's always about America being on top & dont get me wrong I love my country but somethings are just uncalled for. Yes my opinions are kind of biased & that's only because I dont know the whole story but I SEE enough in my own life everyday.....

Sports In My Life

Sports are a big part of my life but they are indeed a part of my life. I can play almost every sport, the only thing that sets me back is my asthma. I've had asthma since I was a baby & even though it takes a toll on my life I don't let it hold me back. I had asthma really bad when I was a baby & once I nearly died, my uncle died at the age of 24 due to an asthma attack. Although I have significantly grown out of my asthma it's still there. I am on no sports team at school due to my mothers fear of my asthma & that sucks because I love to be active & run. I love to play & watch sports, especially with my family. My family loves every sport so it's only right that I inherit that. We go to Bulls games & even some White Sox/Cubs games, my family bets on football games & the winner buys food for the next game. On Superbowl Sunday we have a big party & we but plenty of food, my dad is the announer & it's hilarious. We also support the teams at my high school, all of my family gathers around the tv & listen to me tell who the players are. My nephew attends a rival school so me & him go head to head every game with every sport, but of course WY always comes out on top.
