With this blog I'm going to get a tad bit personal because, well it is MY Blog.
I am thankful for all of my classmates in one way, but there are three classmates I'm especially thankful for. They are Derrick Rogan, Alexandre Hickerson, and Eric Pigram.
Derrick: He's my bestfriend and we don't have any classes together this year, well lunch anyway.
He has been there through it all & I love him muchoo. He's my other half (on some non lovey dovey ish), sometimes I wonder were we seperated at birth (even though he's older then me). He's the type of person who few can really understand and I was lucky enough to understand a little more then they do but stilll not fully. He's thee best of thee best. I'm so thankful for him for so many reasons, some that are way tooo much information for my philosophy blog. But, most of all because he still puts up with me even though I'm crazy, selfish, wacky as a three sided penny, and bipolar. He's an amazing bestfriend & my FP & BD. Anyway, he knows :)
Alexandre: He's my boyfriend & we share British Literature & lunch. This boy.....this boy is my bestfriend, soulmate, future husband, and my heart. He can put the smile on my face that he wiped off in a matter of five seconds. We have been connected by heart for two years and three months that have been the best two years and three months of my life. We can't stand each other because we are so much alike & I'm ever so grateful to him because he's the only person in the world I can be who I truly am plus whoever I wanna be and he'll still scream at me then turn around and hug me with. We both have anger management problems and we are both confused in life. We have been through the works & we are still standing strong. I love him unconditionally.
Eric: He's my BestestFrannn, and ugh I cannot stand him. We share Davinder's trig class. He is the most rude, wierd, abusive person but I love him tooooo death! He is a new wave in the ocean of Jameycia (lol idek) and he's always there for me & if I need to kill someone he would help me. He understands what the rest don't understand about me and he doesnt even speak of it, I can see it in his face and that's why he's my bestfrann. I can nag and complain about my life forever to him and he will just sit and listen and when I'm done he will make me laugh. He doesnt judge me and he doesnt make me feel alone, we get it crackin on Skype and he's the homie forever. I love you Bestfrannnnn <3
Well now I'm done spilling my life :)

Open letter to Cormac McCarthy...
Dear Mr. McCarthy,
I've recently read one of your books "The Road" and I can honestly say that I enjoyed the book. It was different and very enjoyable, I only wonder what life events and/or inspiration drove you to write a book like the road. The book was depressing and pesstimistic & I dont think my mind is capable of putting together a story as crazy as that. That shows me how passionate and dedicated you are about your work and I really respect that. I didn't like the book because I'm a depressing & pesstimistic person but I liked it because it's so realistic. I do believe that if we dont start to make a change with our world that is definently how we are all going to turn out. I wish you would have kinda lived longer though, I would have loved to read many more of your books like "The Road".
The movie they made based of "The Road" didnt do the book credit, which is almost always the case. When we read your autobiography in class you seemed like you lived your life to the fullest and that you were kinda wierd. Then again, arent we all?
Sincernly, Jameycia J. Jenkins

Direction the class needs? To the top is always best :)
I know this blog was due last week but I hate to leave things undone no matter when I get to them so here it is....
I think that the direction the class is currently in and gravitating towards is just fine. Truth is, Philosophy is almost my favorite class, it's so non-stressful and laid back. I think that Mr. McCarthy is a wonderful teacher and he does a fantastic job. Whenever I ask any of Mr. McCarthy's past students what did they think about him I get nothing but good reviews and now I can add my good review to future students. The class is exactly the reason why I took it, if that sounds right...
I love the material that we have covered so far, minus the text book which I would like to burn.
I think that the discussions that we have are interesting and thought provoking which I also love. No I don't talk much and that reason is because I'm not hte person to just say things, if I am going to talk it's going to have a good reason and it's going to have a purpose. This especially applies to a class like philosophy, I just love to sit back to listen to other peoples opinions to come to a common opinion of my own. But, by the time I do think of something the subject has changed and sometimes that is a tad bit frustrating. I believe this was mentioned by one of my fellow classmates also, overall I say again I love the class and it should keep going the way it is...

Defend the Poet! (Charles Bukowski)
To tell the truth I am kind of confused right now. I don't know exactly what to say or what to do to defend Mr. Bukowski. But I will surely try.....
The poem Dinosauria, We is quite the interesting poem indeed. Some might have found it disturbing, gross, and pesstimistic but I found it to be quite refreshing and perfectly realistic. It not only related to our reading material in class but in my opinion life. I strongly suspect that if we don't take these warnings of the direction of world is going more serious we will have no future. These signs have not just popped up either, they have been here and developed long ago before we were even thought of. Remember we estimated this poem to have been written maybe around the sixties?
It's true that maybe Mr. Bukowlski couldve been a tad bit delusional and maybe even a little off in some different ways but don't those people always tur nout to be the best writers. How can you efficiently write a piece of work about the sad and dreadful future of the world and your own world is all butterflies and flowers? So don't critize and make fun of Mr. Bukowski for having the ability in whatever state he was in to write Dinosauria,We because in actuality he was smarter than us all.....
When it all boils down, the truth is we are the ones that is going to ultimately kill ourselves, unintentional suicide. Our stubborn and one-sided attitudes on life a huge reason, something needs to be done and fast. As I love to say, "You can't have your cake and eat it too"...

Father & Son, Mother & Daughter, Mother & Son, Father & Daughter: Family
Hmmmmmm.............Very Interesting Topic Mr. McCarthy!
So, I kinda don't know what direction to go in for this topic so I'm going to just go with the flow. I have thought about this topic quite a bit and I think that it's interesting how the daughters typically tend to connect with the fathers more than the mothers. I know with my family I do stick to my dad more, a fathers love and a mothers love are so different yet so similiar. My mother is loud & irritating and my dad is soft and understanding.
With my brother, he tends to stick to our mom more than our dad, even at age thirty.
I love my dad. He is just so dad like. If he had a dime he would give you all of it, not saying that my mom would'nt go the same. I'm just saying that she would have to yell about it. My dad, who is actually my stepdad is the best person that I know. He came into my life and took me as his own and I've never felt more loved. I'm his child, he does'nt care what anyone says. My biological dad and him also have a really greta relationship whish is awkward.
My mom is, my mom. She's loud and crazy and bipolar but I love her. She is so loud. Well my brother is my brother and that's the end of my blog.

Our Meaning! No skip that, My Meaning :)
I was suppose to post a blog about our meaning, and I took that as the meaning of people. It has taken me all week to think of a nice and profound meaning for people but sadly I found nothing. So instead, I have chosen to tell you what I think my meaning is.
So...my meaning. Yes, I do think my meaning is really great and significant. Before this blog continues, let me tell you this, I don't like people. I love some people, but people as a whole I dislike and that's why I couldn't think of a solid meaning. But, that's another blog for another day. Anywhooo, back to me, I consider myself to be very rare, this world we live in is indeed cruel and the people are careless. That doesn't describe me at all, I think that I'm here to balance things out. No I'm not a saint, and yes I make mistakes but I am very wise, my mother describes me as "A old lady inside a teenager's body". I am here to remind people that life is short, we don't have time to care about nonsensical things and also to be your own person. I believe that one of the greatest gifts that God has bestowed upon is is our own identity.
Alot of people in life don't get that. My meaning is to make a difference somewhere and sometime in my lifetime and I know that for a fact. Give me twenty years & my name will be known for something courageous, rare, and amazing.

God in 2010
God in 2010 has changed drastically. He is no longer the almighty ruler, he has become a giver and not a receiver. People now believe that they control their life, their fate, and themselves. People don't believe that he deserves praise and that they are too busy to take the time to thank him.
Churches have become places to raise money and brag rather than the place to praise and be educated. It's sad that I haven't met a pastor without a Beamer, Benz, or Bentley and that the people in church are the most corrupted people. In our world when diasters strike we say that God is punishing us & when things are going wrong in our lives we don't even acknowledge God. The world has turned God into a fad, sometimes it's in and sometimes it's out . I believe that Lord Jesus is my savior and without him I would be nothing. Some people would look at me and say that I'm crazy and others would say they believe but in actuality they do only when in need. It's ashame that more than half of us don't pray and when the other half prays we begin and end with what we need instead of thanking him. God is not brand name clothes, a new car, or money. He isn't an earthquake, a tornado, or a recession, he is God and without him we would be nothing.
God in 2010 is the God that has been there for us no matter what, he loves all fools and babies.

Candide's Punishments, do they fit the crime?
No, I do not think that Candide's crimes fit the punishment. I think that Candide was overly punished and that he actually unintentionally took the blame for someone else. When he was first punished for kissing Cunegonde, Pangloss should have been punished because he was the one who Cunegonde saw "fondling" in the bushes with the maid. From then on, all of Candide's punishments should'nt have happenend. Pangloss and the people who punished him should've been the ones who took the blame. When they saw that Candide had such silly nonsensible ideas and spoke of the great philosopher Pangloss, the Bulgars should have put the blame on Pangloss and helped Candide instead of punishing him. I think that they deserve to get punished for that.
I also find it ironic at how exactly when Candide says something out of the ordinary to their lifestyle he immediately gets punished. But, when he kills two people, he can escape and avoid punishment. This was all after he started to realize that Pangloss's philosophy about the world wasn't all that accurate. This reminds me of the world today, and the question, why do bad things happen to good people? We are all like Candide in different ways, all of our thoughts and ideas of the world are biased and guided towards a certain way. These thoughts and ideas( the harmless ones) get us into trouble, when the people who aren't so harmless get away with things.
Candide is now coming into the real world and no I still stand and say that his punishments do not fit the crime. Voltaire's book is more than a book about silly, nincompoop, love and adventure story. This really goes with my theory of how nothing is completely new, it's just a new version of the same happenings over and over again.

Modern Gadfly?
I do think that there is a Modern day Gadfly, there isn't one as bold as Socrates but there are people who are close. I believe that (forgive the spelling) Geraud Mcclendon from the show Geraud Mcclendon Live is a modern Gadfly. He is a strong person who isn't afraid to quesiton authority and says what he has to say. On his show he directly attacks the problem and situation head on. I have alot of respect for him because he doesn't have a really huge show, at the most his show is an half an hour maybe a few days a week, but in that little time he tackles many things.
People weren't really fond of Socrates, that is the first audience. This reminds me Mr. Mcclendon, when you google his name, you don't see anything about him. People aren't fond of him, I've heard that people think his show is biased towards the African-American community and is racist and very opinionated. People said that Socrates was into trickery and played mind games. Geraud also had three audiences, a first, second, and third audience. The first audience which are the people who call in to tell their opinions, which are often biased, are questioned and listened to carefully. The second audience, which are the callers that can call and respond to the other callers sometimes laugh and mock the people who called. The last audience, the third audience, the people like me watching at home, laugh at the first audience, and smile at the second. If you compare the show and the audiences, it's really quite similar. Geraud breaks down and issues and make the callers and even the viewers at home think twice. This is why I consider Mr. Geraud Mcclendon as a Modern Gadfly.

Is the Unexamined Life Worth Living?
One of the most famous philosophers EVER, Socrates
(469-399 B.C.E.), once said "The Unexamined life is not worth living", how accurate is this statement ?
I believed that this statement is very accurate. I dont believe it is healthy or possible to live a happy if you dont inspect and question life. What's the point of living if you can't or are afraid to admit that change is needed? If certain people hadn't questioned life, why do certain things happen and why do they work one way or another then MANY of the important parts of life would not exist. For some people it is life altering, I have had an experience where I have questioned something in life and in a way it was life altering. Before I became a dolphin, my mom wanted me to attend another school (Im not gonna say the name out of respect). I accepted it and even bought the uniform, I sat down and examined and came to the conclusion that I wanted to go to a more promising school. So I talked to my mom and we came to a compromise and here I am at Whitney Young. If I hadn't questioned and examined that situation who knows what and where I would be now. It is okay to question things, in my opinion, the more fascinating things about the world are the different people, different cultures, and different lifestyles. To not examine life is very dangerous, our mindsets and views and lives would be so backwards, unhappy, controlled, biased, and so many other things it's not able to imagine. So the Unexamined life isn't worth living, if you can't question life, why live at all? Change is something noone should be afraid of.

The Eulogy of Jameycia Jenkins
We are here today to honor the one and only Jameycia J. Jenkins.
Jameycia was a kind-hearted soul who lived in a world of her own. She always tried to find & see the best in people, she also loved to help anyone in need. If you were sad or angry you could talk to her and she would make you forget all of your problems. Throughout her short & golden life, she always looked up to two people, her grandmother and herself. She believed that when God created her, he had her grandmother in mind. Jameycia loved her true friends & family, whenever you would see her smiling or laugh it would just brighten your day. Jameycia was in her Junior year & looking forward to going to college and law school. She never expected for that mutant octopus to crawl from under the ground & suffocate her to death on the way to the train station. Her philosophy teacher Mr. McCarthy will be forever grateful to her because that octopus was coming for him and she pushed him out of the way. She believed in love, fate, and second chances. Jameycia was a very misunderstood individual, she thought outside of the box quite often. She was the sweetest, bipolar, and amazing person ever. These reasons plus many more are the reasons why the people who did understand her, or at least tried to understand her loved her so much. She had so many different sides of her you never expected, she could'nt live without her laptop, phone, iPod, and her four best friends. If you knew her, you should consider yourself truly lucky.
